At
least eight artists will once again vie for the Best International Act:
Africa at the 16th Black Entertainment Awards next month.
Three South African
acts have scored a nomination, namely rappers AKA, Cassper Nyovest and
popular DJ Black Coffee. This is AKA's second BET nomination but a first
for Cassper and Black Coffee.
Other nominees for
this year are Nigeria's superstar Wizkid and songstress Yemi Alade. This
marks the third nomination for Wizkid while Yemi gets her second nod in
the category.
Ghana's fast-rising
female Dancehall acts Mzvee, Tanzania's Diamond Platnumz and Cote
d'lvoire's Serge Beynaud have also been nominated in the same category.
Canadian singer Drake leads the pack with nine nods while Beyonce and Rihanna get five nominations.
The 2016 BET Awards will air live on June 26 from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
